Short answer: download your payout history from the pool as a CSV, match each payout to the deposit in your wallet or exchange, value it at the Bitcoin price when it was received, tag it to the site that earned it, then record it in QuickBooks as mining revenue against a Bitcoin asset account. How that income is treated for tax is a call for you and your accountant.

What a pool payout record contains

Braiins Pool lets you download the history of your payouts, rewards and activity as CSV or JSON. Its payouts data includes, for each payout, when it was requested and resolved, the status (confirmed, queued or failed), the amount and fee in sats, the destination, and the transaction ID for on-chain payouts or the invoice for Lightning payouts.

Keep one distinction in mind. Rewards are what the pool credited to your account. Payouts are what it actually sent. The two differ because of payout thresholds, schedules and fees. Your books should follow payouts, because those are what arrive in your wallet.

Step by step: Braiins Pool to QuickBooks

1. Export your payouts from Braiins Pool

In your Braiins Pool workspace, open the Payouts section and use the export option in the bottom left corner. Choose CSV. Export one calendar month at a time so it lines up with your monthly close.

2. Keep only confirmed payouts

Drop queued and failed rows. A failed payout never left the pool, so it is not revenue in your wallet yet.

3. Match each payout to the deposit

Find each payout in the wallet or exchange it was sent to, using the transaction ID and amount. Some exchange exports leave out deposit addresses, so you may need the transaction ID to tie the two together. Anything you cannot match should stay on a list for review, not be forced into the books.

4. Value each payout at the price when it landed

Use a consistent price source and the time the payout was received. That value is the payout's revenue and its cost basis for later sales.

5. Assign each payout to a site

If you run more than one site, give each site its own payout address or Braiins financial account. Then every payout to that address belongs to that site, and per-site revenue falls out of the data.

6. Record it in QuickBooks

For each payout, or a monthly summary per site, debit your Bitcoin asset account and credit mining revenue at the value from step 4. Keep the export and your matching work with the month's records so your accountant can trace the entries.

A note on Lightning payouts

Braiins Pool can pay out over Lightning. Those payouts go to a Lightning destination and carry an invoice rather than an on-chain transaction ID, so match them against the receiving wallet's Lightning history.

Step by step: Luxor to QuickBooks

Luxor credits mining rewards to subaccounts. Each subaccount has its own balance and payout settings: daily, weekly or monthly payouts, one or more payout addresses, and a revenue split when you use several addresses. Payments go out shortly after 04:00 UTC once the balance is above the minimum threshold plus the withdrawal fee (0.001 BTC plus a flat 0.000075 BTC fee for Bitcoin).

1. Export from the Reports page

In Luxor Mining Pool, open the Reports page and pick the subaccounts, the date range and BTC. The page lists all debits and credits affecting those subaccounts. Every table and chart on the page can be downloaded as a CSV file, and downloaded data is in UTC.

2. Keep the payouts

The list mixes revenue credits and payouts. Luxor's API describes each transaction with a date and time, subaccount, address name, category (such as Miner Revenue), amount, USD equivalent, transaction ID and whether it is a debit or a credit. Use the payout rows and their transaction IDs to match against your wallet.

3. Match, value, assign and record

From here the steps are the same as for Braiins: match each payout to the deposit, value it at the price when it landed, assign it to a site, and record it in QuickBooks. Luxor lets you link a subaccount to a site, so one subaccount per site keeps the split clean. Remember the export is in UTC when you cut the month.

Common problems

  • Missing deposit addresses. Some exchange exports omit them. Use transaction IDs to recover the match, and keep anything ambiguous for review.
  • Payout schedule changes. A change from daily to weekly payouts changes what lands in a given month. Book what arrived, not what the pool credited.
  • Small queued or failed payouts. Filter by status before you total anything.
  • Several sites paying into one wallet. Without separate addresses, you cannot split revenue by site from the data alone.
  • Double counting. If you import both the pool export and the wallet history, make sure each payout is counted once.

Doing it every month with Flash

Flash works alongside your pool by importing the same exports. Its CSV import wizard saves the file definition for your Braiins or Luxor export, so after the first month each new file is a drop-in. You map each payout address to a site once, and every future payout lands attributed. Unmatched activity stays visible for review.

Flash values each receipt when it landed, tracks FIFO cost basis, and builds QuickBooks entries you review before posting. Closed months are locked, and any later change is recorded as a correction. Direct exchange connections are live for Kraken, Coinbase, Coinbase Prime and Gemini.

Questions

Can I export my Braiins Pool payouts?

Yes. In your Braiins Pool workspace, open Payouts, Rewards or Activity and use the export option in the bottom left corner to download CSV or JSON.

How do I record mining pool payouts in QuickBooks?

Record each payout at its value when received: debit a Bitcoin asset account and credit mining revenue. Confirm the classification and tax treatment with your accountant.

Does Flash pull payouts from Braiins Pool or Luxor directly?

Not yet. Flash imports their CSV exports with saved file definitions. A direct link to Braiins Pool is in progress.

Why don't my pool earnings match what reached my wallet?

Rewards and payouts differ because of payout thresholds, schedules, fees, and payouts that are queued or failed. Match payouts, not rewards, to your wallet receipts.

Can I export my Luxor payouts?

Yes. The Reports page in Luxor Mining Pool lists the debits and credits for the subaccounts and dates you pick, and every table can be downloaded as a CSV file in UTC.

How do I split one pool account across several sites?

Send each site's payouts to its own address, Braiins financial account or Luxor subaccount, then assign each address to its site.

Flash brings pool exports, exchange deposits and your costs together into per-site books and a reviewable QuickBooks close. See Flash for miners.
